Your tour begins with pickup from your hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor, followed by a scenic drive across the Nile to the West Bank of Luxor. Along the way, your Egyptologist guide will share stories and historical insights about ancient Thebes and the monuments you are about to visit. The itinerary and commentary can be adjusted to suit your personal interests.
Your first stop is the world-famous Valley of the Kings, the royal burial site of the New Kingdom pharaohs. After a short visit to the visitor center, you will explore several rock-cut tombs, decorated with vivid hieroglyphs and well-preserved wall paintings. While guides are not permitted inside the tombs, your guide will explain the symbolism and artwork before you enter. An optional visit to the tomb of King Tutankhamun is available for an additional fee, payable on-site.
Next, you will continue to the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a masterpiece of ancient architecture carved into the limestone cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. Learn about the remarkable life of Queen Hatshepsut, Egypt’s most powerful female ruler, as you explore the temple’s terraces, courtyards, statues, and reliefs.
Your tour then includes a stop at the iconic Colossi of Memnon, two massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once guarded his mortuary temple. Hear the legends surrounding these statues and see ancient Roman-era inscriptions carved into the stone.
Before returning to Luxor, you may have the opportunity to visit a local alabaster workshop, where you can learn about traditional stone carving techniques and browse handcrafted souvenirs if you wish.
At the end of your tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor.
